An Authentic Approach

Authenticity. Integrity. Honesty.

Dr. Kyle Sanniec embodies these characteristics and keeps them as the focus of his practice. With Midwestern values of hard work and humility, Dr. Sanniec sees himself as “the regular person’s plastic surgeon.” He is proud of how his Arizona roots and Midwest education have helped him develop such a strong sense of hospitality and the dedicated work ethic he brings to each patient. He strives to deliver high-end plastic surgery to his patients, many of whom never thought they would get plastic surgery—the woman who wants to feel better in a bathing suit after her third kid or the man who wants the reflection in the mirror to match who he feels like inside.

For Dr. Sanniec, building authentic, meaningful relationships with his patients is an essential part of his practice. Dr. Sanniec knows he’s doing more than just helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals—he’s helping patients improve their confidence and overall quality of life. Watching patients complete aesthetic transformations that positively impact their lives brings Dr. Sanniec great satisfaction. In fact, Dr. Sanniec enjoys seeing this positive impact continue affecting his patients’ successes even after they’re no longer under his care!

A Different Style of Practice

During your consultation, don’t be alarmed if Dr. Sanniec tries to talk you out of plastic surgery. Dr. Sanniec has no interest in convincing his patients to get plastic surgery. Instead, he wants patients who come to the decision on their own and want to partner with Dr. Sanniec to get the procedure that will offer lasting results, even if it’s not the procedure they thought they wanted.

Dr. Sanniec begins each consultation by getting to know his patients personally, discussing their goals and medical history, and determining whether he is the right surgeon. If Dr. Sanniec doesn’t feel he can help a patient achieve their desired aesthetic, he will tell them he’s not the right surgeon and send them elsewhere.

Rather than acting as a “plastic surgery factory” where each patient gets the same service, Dr. Sanniec focuses on performing the appropriate procedures tailored for each patient. During consultations in Glendale, Mesa or Scottsdale, Dr. Sanniec discusses his philosophy of maximizing result longevity and natural-looking, anatomically achievable results that balance the patient’s natural features.

Q & A with Dr. Sanniec

I knew I wanted to be a doctor early on when I served on medical mission trips and saw the profound impact that could be made, especially with reconstructive surgery. I enjoyed being able to solve a problem immediately and have a long relationship with patients in achieving their goals.

When I started performing aesthetic surgery, I realized aesthetic patients allowed me to really focus on immediate improvement in their goals and build lifelong relationships, which originally drew me into the field of plastic surgery. I initially didn’t think aesthetic surgery was something I wanted to do as portrayals of it in the media or on TV seemed clownish or like a caricature of a surgeon. However, when I started doing aesthetic surgery in training, I saw that I could be authentic and take good care of patients who just wanted to look and feel a little better, and I could provide them with exceptional aesthetic surgery without the accompanying circus often portrayed on social media or TV shows. Since then, I have wanted to provide elite-level aesthetic surgery to the “regular person” who just wants to feel better and meet their goals without the “reality TV” surgeon sideshow.

I enjoy the satisfaction of helping patients achieve their goals and accomplish significant transformations. I can see how that serves as a cornerstone for further life improvements or changes, and by maintaining a connection with my patients even after they are no longer receiving treatment, I enjoy hearing about their continued successes.

I also find fulfillment in my patients’ newfound confidence and presence after these transformations in all areas of their lives and hearing about how their day-to-day lives have changed. Patients use this new confidence to overcome additional challenges and obstacles they never thought they would.

I am a regular person’s plastic surgeon. I don’t hard sell patients to convince them to get surgery. I will often tell patients to delay surgery or seek out another surgical opinion, even if it means I “lose out” on a surgery. I routinely perform the surgery a patient needs that will offer lasting results for 10 to 20 years rather than an easier one if I don’t feel it is in the patient’s best interest. These will only look good for a year or two and will ultimately require them to undergo additional surgeries when the patient loses the aesthetic they wanted.

I am not a plastic surgery factory where each patient gets the same implant or the same volume of fat grafting. Everything is tailored to each patient’s specific goals, and if I don’t have a reasonable chance of helping them achieve their desired aesthetic, then I am happy to tell them so and encourage them to go elsewhere.

I enjoy patients more than any specific procedure. The most rewarding part is getting to know them through the initial consultations, the preoperative and postoperative period, and seeing them thrive after surgery. Seeing how they use the newly inspired confidence to tackle other obstacles in their life (from starting new ventures/challenges to a renewed mindset after a rough season).

I enjoy mommy makeovers.  After all the difficulties and responsibilities moms have and the toll pregnancies take on their bodies, the ability to help get them back to a body they are confident in and help fix “problem areas” they aren’t able to correct on their own.

I enjoy secondary plastic surgery procedures, where I’m able to help patients fix or revise procedures they received from other providers that they were unhappy with. I am fortunate to have had extensive experience and training doing secondary plastic surgery, performing many procedures that were considered “too difficult” to fix results patients received from other surgeons that they were unhappy with.

I also really enjoy massive weight loss surgery. After patients have spent the time and effort to lose significant weight, removing the loose skin allows them to feel more confident and showcase their weight loss. If they go to all that effort to lose weight, I like being able to get them the rest of the way there. I have family members who have struggled with weight, and I saw how hard it was to get the weight off. If a patient can go through all that hard work, I like being able to remove the loose skin so they can feel confident showing off the weight loss.

I was born and raised in Chandler Arizona. My family has been in Chandler for over 60 years.

I went to undergrad and grad school in the Midwest and played college football at Greenville College.  I then came back to Arizona for Medical School and graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix. I then went to an integrated 6 year plastic surgery residency at UT Southwestern, the US World News #1 Ranked Plastic Surgery Training program in the country. While there I trained under world experts from pioneers in the field of plastic surgery, with a focus on performing primary and secondary plastic surgeries in numerous ways and affording me the ability to truly customize surgery to each patient.

I perform all aspects of aesthetic surgery from facelifts to liposuction and everything in between.

I have a focus on secondary aesthetic surgery, mommy makeovers, surgery after massive weight loss, and complex reconstruction.

My practice philosophy focuses primarily on a more natural patient centered aesthetic. I don’t  believe in hard selling patients to get surgery, and want to give them information about their surgical and non surgical options and then let them come to the decision on their own. I believe that the patient and their plastic surgeon have to have a shared vision and are a good fit prior to any surgical undertaking.

My surgical philosophy is to work with patients to get results that will look great and are timeless rather than a trendy surgery that doesn’t have proven long term results.

I became a plastic surgeon because I enjoyed being able to solve a surgical problem immediately and develop a long term relationship with patients to achieve their goals. The nature of aesthetic or reconstructive surgery requires a longer term doctor-patient relationship as they often require multiple surgeries to get the final result patients want. I get to play a small part in helping patients transition from some of the hardest times in their life, to a new future they can look forward to.

I get to help patients achieve their goals and then see how they use this new confidence to tackle future challenges.

I like that I get to be the “hope” doctor. The nature of plastic surgery  allows for me to come in and offer patients a future that isn’t focused solely on their trauma or cancer treatment.

After patients have had trauma or cancer treatment, I get to come in and offer them reconstructive services. I get to work with patients to see this future not focused solely on doctors visits and hospital stays but on regaining form and function. I get to work with patients to build themselves back up.

I was trained under a more traditional surgical training model where there was an expectation that I may be the only doctor this patient sees and being a surgeon is a tremendous privilege and responsibility.

This responsibility and privilege was in the forefront. All studying, academic achievements and surgical techniques were in service to this and you didn’t want something in my control (studying, technical understanding ,etc) to be the reason a patient didn’t have a good outcome.

I spend leisure time coaching recreational sports for my boys, outdoor fitness challenges and dabbling as an amateur chef and pizzaiolo.

Reliable, Authentic, and Patient-Focused

I have been very fortunate to have numerous mentors that have impacted me throughout my career. I feel fortunate to have seasoned world experts in all aspects of plastic surgery I can call when a difficult case comes in.

In addition to clinical guidance, some of their biggest impact has been in guidance on non surgical decisions like balancing a growing family and a growing practice, and a sounding board for career decisions.

I think grasping the seriousness of plastic surgery and how that should be paramount in my interactions with the patient. I didn’t initially think it was as critical when I first started but as I went through the journey, I saw the importance of this. Surgery, even plastic surgery, is serious business and should be treated with the respect that it requires.

I also changed my view on the importance of fit with a patient and plastic surgeon. It’s important that the patient and  doctor personalities fit. As not every plastic surgeon is a good fit for every patient and how important this fit actually is given the long term nature of plastic surgery.

People choose me because I am the regular person’s plastic surgeon, wanting to provide plastic surgery to the “regular person” who just wants to feel/look a little better and meet their  goals without the “celebrity surgeon” sideshow.  I’m authentic and honest and am looking to partner with a patient on their surgery journey. Patients never have to wonder if I am just trying to sell them a surgery.  I will often tell patients to delay surgery or seek out another surgical opinion.

I’m not a plastic surgery factory,  each patient is getting a tailored surgical plan to their specific goals that will offer lasting results and a timeless aesthetic rather than a quick fix that won’t provide them the long term results they are hoping to achieve or will fade out with the next trendy procedure.  If I don’t feel I am able to achieve this, I let them know and encourage them to go elsewhere.
